Portrait Photography for Birthdays, Graduations & Milestones

I photograph personal portrait sessions for clients who want updated images, are celebrating something important, or simply want a set of polished photos that still feel natural.

Sessions can be photographed outdoors around New Orleans or with a clean studio-style setup, depending on the look you want.

Graduation Portraits

Graduation portraits can include cap-and-gown photos, campus-inspired images, announcements, and more styled portraits around New Orleans. I’ll help you choose a location, plan the timing, and create a mix of clean portraits and more relaxed images.

Birthday & Milestones

Birthday portraits can be clean and simple, colorful, editorial, or more playful depending on your style. These sessions also work well for anniversaries, personal accomplishments, and other milestones you want to document.

Lifestyle Portraits

Personal lifestyle portraits are for clients who want current photos with more movement and personality than a traditional studio portrait. These images are intended for personal use rather than company websites or business marketing.

Studio Portraits

A studio-style setup provides controlled lighting, clean backgrounds, and space to create something more styled. This works well for themed sessions, fashion-forward looks, and portraits where lighting and posing are a major part of the final result.

Portraits, Headshots or Personal Branding?

Personal Portrait Photography

Choose a portrait session for birthdays, graduations, senior photos, lifestyle portraits, creative sessions, and personal milestones. These images are primarily created for you rather than for a company or professional profile.

Professional Headshots

Choose a headshot session when you need a polished photograph for LinkedIn, executive bios, company websites, acting, medical profiles, professional directories, or other business uses.

Personal Branding Photography

Choose personal branding when you need more than one profile image and want a larger collection of photographs for your website, social media, speaking, marketing, workspace, or business.

How to Prepare for Your Portrait Session

Bring one or two outfits that fit well and match the look you want. Solid colors, clean lines, and simple accessories usually photograph well, but a stronger pattern or statement piece can work when it is intentional.

Remove phones, keys, wallets, and other bulky items from your pockets before the session. Bring any cap and gown, birthday props, meaningful items, or accessories you want included.

Plan to be camera-ready at your scheduled start time. For outdoor sessions, I’ll recommend a start time based on the light, crowds, and location. We will also discuss an indoor backup or rescheduling plan when weather is uncertain.

Recommended Portrait Locations in New Orleans

Choose the vibe that matches your session. These are reliable spots that photograph clean and consistently.

  • French Quarter: Historic architecture, ironwork, colorful streets, & recognizable New Orleans backgrounds.

  • Garden District: Greenery, oak-lined streets, classic homes, and cleaner backgrounds.

  • City Park: Oak trees, natural light, open space, & enough variety for graduation, family, & personal portraits.

  • CBD and Downtown: Modern buildings, clean lines, urban backgrounds, and a more editorial look.

  • Lakefront: Open skies, sunset light, and a quieter background with fewer architectural distractions.

  • Marigny and Bywater: Colorful walls, neighborhood texture, and a more creative local feel.

Send the occasion and the overall look you want—classic, natural, colorful, modern, or creative—and I’ll recommend the best location and start time.

Portraits FAQ

Q. How long is a portrait session?

A. Most sessions run 60–120 minutes, depending on the package you choose, the number of outfit changes, and whether we add a second nearby location.

Q. What types of portrait sessions do you offer?

A. I photograph birthday portraits, graduation and senior portraits, lifestyle portraits, creative portrait sessions, anniversary portraits, and other personal milestone sessions throughout New Orleans.

For business-oriented images, I offer separate professional headshot and personal branding sessions.

Q. What’s included in a portrait session?

A. Every session includes guided posing, a relaxed pace, and a polished online gallery to download, share, and order optional prints.

Q. How many images will I receive?

A. Your final count depends on the package you choose. Most sessions are delivered as a curated set of edited images focused on the strongest moments, expressions, and variety.

Q. Can I bring multiple outfits?

A. Yes. For most sessions, 1–2 outfits is realistic. Longer packages can support more variety without rushing.

Q. Can we use more than one location?

Yes. If the locations are close and the timeline allows, we can include a second nearby location for added variety.

Q. Do you help with posing?

A. Absolutely. I’ll guide you with simple prompts and adjustments so your photos feel natural, confident, and flattering—even if you’ve never done a session before.

Q. What should I wear?

A. Solid colors and clean fits photograph best. Avoid large logos and busy patterns. If you’re unsure, bring two options and I’ll help you choose what works best on camera.

Q. What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?

A. If weather is an issue, we can reschedule or pivot to a covered location or indoor option (hotel, Airbnb, or similar) depending on your goals and availability.

Q. What does retouching include?

A. Retouching is natural and professional—minor skin cleanup, flyaways, and small distractions—while keeping texture and a realistic look. Heavier retouching is available on request.

Q. When will I receive my photos?

A. Turnaround varies by season, but you’ll typically receive a preview first, followed by the final edited gallery. If you have a deadline, share it up front and we’ll plan accordingly.

Q. Do I need a portrait session, headshot session, or branding session?

A. A portrait session is best for birthdays, graduations, senior photos, and personal milestones. Professional headshots are intended for LinkedIn, company websites, acting, and business profiles. Personal branding sessions create a larger marketing image library for your website, social media, and business.

Ready to plan your portrait session?

Send your preferred date, the occasion, number of people, and whether you want an outdoor or studio-style session. I’ll confirm availability, recommend a location and start time, and send the portrait package that best fits what you need.

Sessions are available throughout New Orleans, Gretna, Metairie, the Westbank, and surrounding South Louisiana areas.

Need Photos for Your Business or Personal Brand?

If you need photographs for your business, website, marketing, speaking, or social media, a personal branding session provides a larger and more strategically planned image library than a personal portrait session.

Branding sessions can include professional portraits, lifestyle images, workspace photographs, detail images, and content designed around how you plan to use the photographs.
