Chad Populis Photography recently provided a photo booth and event photography combo at Hyatt Regency New Orleans for a housekeeper awards and appreciation celebration.
About 50 employees and guests attended the event, which featured a glamorous MetGalaxy theme, awards, gifts, music, event photography, and a 360 photo booth.
Chad Populis handled the photography while Cameron Populis operated the 360 booth, allowing both parts of the event to receive dedicated coverage.

The MetGalaxy theme gave the room a glamorous, space-inspired feel with stars, planets, and celestial details worked into the décor.
For me, event photography is about more than photographing the people. I also capture the room, décor, awards, signage, and other details that help tell the complete story of the event.
Those images can be especially useful for companies and hotels that want content for internal communications, social media, or future event promotion.
Documentary-Style Event Photography
My approach to events is primarily documentary.
Rather than constantly stopping guests to look at the camera, I watch for reactions, conversations, laughter, applause, hugs, and the smaller moments happening around the main program.
Several housekeeping staff members received gifts and awards recognizing their performance, dedication, and character, so there were plenty of meaningful moments to capture.
Along with the candid coverage, we also photographed award recipients, staff groups, and other posed moments throughout the event.
The goal was to create a gallery with both natural storytelling images and polished group photographs.
A Photo Booth Photography Combo
For this booking, the client combined professional photography with a 360 photo booth.
The two services work well together because they serve different purposes.
The photography documents the overall story of the event.
The photo booth gives guests something interactive to enjoy.
While I moved throughout the room photographing the awards, candid moments, and group portraits, Cameron managed the 360 booth and worked directly with guests.
The booth became one of the entertainment centers of the event.
The playlist leaned heavily into Latin and Caribbean music, with a little New Orleans bounce mixed in, which helped bring even more energy to the booth.
Guests danced, laughed, and pulled coworkers onto the platform to create short 360 videos together.

The photographs captured the expressions.
The video helped capture the movement.
Sometimes having a little of both gives a more complete picture of what the event actually felt like.
