Get your headshot looking sharp everywhere with the right sizes, crops, and focal lengths.

Recommended upload sizes (as of 2025; platforms update often)
Profile photo: 400x400 px minimum. Upload 1200x1200 for crispness. Square, centered.
Background banner: 1584x396 px. Keep text/logo within the center 1320x300 safe area.
Profile photo: Square. 400x400–1024x1024 works well. Centered face with headroom.
Profile photo: 400x400 px minimum. Upload 800x800–1200x1200 for clarity.
Virtual background (if using headshot in a banner frame): 1920x1080.
Profile photo: Square, 512x512 recommended. Displays small—maximize face size.
Website hero/banners
Common: 1920x640, 1920x800, or 2400x1000. Export 2x for retina (e.g., 3840-wide).
Keep face toward one side for copy space; avoid placing eyes near crop edges.
Crop strategy
Safe crop: Keep eyes in the upper third. Leave 5–10% headroom to avoid awkward trims.
Square master: Deliver a 1:1 master at 1200x1200 for most platforms.
Tight and medium: Provide both a tight crop (head and top shoulders) and a wider crop (mid-torso) for banners.
Negative space: For LinkedIn banners and website heroes, compose with intentional copy space left or right.

Focal length and perspective
Use 85–135mm equivalent for flattering compression on full-frame; 50–85mm on APS-C.
Avoid ultra-wide lenses that distort features, especially near frame edges for group banners.
File prep
sRGB color space, JPG at quality 80–90 or PNG for max crispness on logos.
Name files clearly: FirstLast_LinkedInSquare.jpg, FirstLast_WebHeroRight.jpg.
Provide a vertical 9:16 crop for Stories/Reels “About Me” content.
Pro tip: Make a “platform pack” with square (1200x1200), landscape (1920x1080), vertical (1080x1350 and 1080x1920), and a LinkedIn banner crop. One shoot, everywhere-ready.
