How to Prepare for Your Portrait Session

Plan for a calm, comfortable session by choosing outfits that fit well and match the vibe you want (clean, classic, or more creative).

  • Bring 1–2 outfit options, remove items from pockets, and keep accessories simple unless they’re part of your look.

  • If you’re doing hair and makeup, aim to be camera-ready by your start time and consider arriving 10–15 minutes early to settle in and do final touch-ups.

  • For location-based sessions, we’ll choose spots with clean backgrounds and good light—late afternoon/golden hour is ideal for a natural, flattering look.

  • If weather shifts, we can reschedule or pivot to a covered or indoor option (hotel, Airbnb, or similar) to keep the session stress-free.

Recommended Photo Locations in New Orleans

Choose the vibe that matches your session. These are reliable spots that photograph clean and consistently.

  • French Quarter — classic New Orleans character, ironwork, textured streets

  • Garden District — timeless, romantic streets and greenery

  • City Park — natural light, oak trees, and open scenic variety

  • CBD / Downtown — modern, editorial lines and clean urban backdrops

  • Lakefront — airy, open, sunset-driven portraits (great for golden hour)

  • Marigny / Bywater — colorful walls and creative street texture

Not sure where to shoot? Tell me the occasion (graduation, birthday, branding) and your preferred vibe (classic, modern, colorful, natural), and I’ll recommend the best location and time of day.

Portraits FAQ

1) How long is a portrait session?

Most sessions run 60–120 minutes, depending on the package you choose, the number of outfit changes, and whether we add a second nearby location.

2) What’s included in a portrait session?

Every session includes guided posing, a relaxed pace, and a polished online gallery to download, share, and order optional prints.

3) How many final edited photos will I receive?

Your final count depends on the package you choose. Most sessions are delivered as a curated set of edited images focused on the strongest moments, expressions, and variety.

4) Can we do multiple outfits?

Yes. For most sessions, 1–2 outfits is realistic. Longer packages can support more variety without rushing.

5) Can we use more than one location?

Yes. If the locations are close and the timeline allows, we can include a second nearby location for added variety.

6) Do you help with posing?

Absolutely. I’ll guide you with simple prompts and adjustments so your photos feel natural, confident, and flattering—even if you’ve never done a session before.

7) What should I wear?

Solid colors and clean fits photograph best. Avoid large logos and busy patterns. If you’re unsure, bring two options and I’ll help you choose what works best on camera.

8) What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?

If weather is an issue, we can reschedule or pivot to a covered location or indoor option (hotel, Airbnb, or similar) depending on your goals and availability.

9) What does retouching look like?

Retouching is natural and professional—minor skin cleanup, flyaways, and small distractions—while keeping texture and a realistic look. Heavier retouching is available on request.

10) When will I receive my photos?

Turnaround varies by season, but you’ll typically receive a preview first, followed by the final edited gallery. If you have a deadline, share it up front and we’ll plan accordingly.
