1. What Experience Do You Have?

Experience matters, particularly in boudoir photography, where the subject matter is personal and intimate. An experienced photographer should know how to provide clear direction, help you feel comfortable, and photograph flattering angles without making the session feel forced.

My answer: I have photographed dozens of models and have training in guided posing. I have completed more than 20 boudoir sessions and have been photographing models since 2019.

2. Can I View Your Portfolio?

Ask to see the photographer’s boudoir portfolio so you can review their lighting, posing, editing style, and overall consistency.

Do the clients have natural skin tones? Does the posing look comfortable? Can the photographer work with different body types, skin tones, clothing styles, and lighting conditions?

3. Do You Provide Posing Guidance?

Boudoir photography involves poses that may feel unfamiliar, especially if this is your first session. A skilled photographer should provide clear instructions and help you understand what to do with your hands, posture, expression, and body position.

My answer: I provide guided posing throughout the session. I have several years of experience posing models, along with additional training and reference materials that help me communicate posing instructions clearly.

You will not be left to figure everything out on your own.

4. What Should I Wear?

The right wardrobe can help you feel comfortable and support the style you want for your photographs. Your photographer should be able to suggest clothing based on your comfort level, body shape, location, and the mood of the session.

Boudoir does not require nudity. You may choose lingerie, a bodysuit, robe, fitted dress, button-down shirt, formalwear, or something you already own.

5. What Is Your Privacy Policy?

Privacy is one of the most important topics to discuss before a boudoir session.

Ask how your photographs will be stored, delivered, shared, and used. Some photographers may request permission to use selected images on their website or social media, but you should understand exactly what you are approving.

My answer: I only use boudoir photographs for portfolio or marketing purposes with the client’s express written consent. Your images are not shared publicly without your permission.

6. Can You Assist With Hair and Makeup?

Professional hair and makeup can help you feel prepared and create a more polished look under professional lighting.

Some photographers include hair and makeup in their packages. Others work with independent professionals or provide a preferred-vendor list.

7. What Types of Packages Do You Offer?

Review the available boudoir photography packages to determine which option fits your budget, desired session length, and number of final images.

My answer: I offer the following base packages:

• 60 minutes: Two looks and a 12-image online gallery

• 90 minutes: Three looks and a 20-image online gallery

• 120 minutes: Four looks and a 30-image online gallery

All packages include a credit toward the shoot location. Additional images, prints, albums, and other products may be available for an additional cost.

8. What Is Your Editing Process?

Every photographer has a different editing style. Ask what is included in the retouching process and whether the photographer removes permanent features, changes body shape, or applies heavy skin smoothing.

Looking at full galleries can help you understand whether the photographer’s editing style is consistent.

My answer: I photograph each session with the final edit in mind. My editing style is clean and natural, with adjustments to crop, composition, color, contrast, lighting, and exposure.

The goal is to create polished photographs while maintaining natural skin tones and recognizable features.

9. When Will I Receive My Photos?

Delivery times vary based on the number of final images, the photographer’s workload, and whether your package includes albums or printed products.

Ask when you can expect:

• Preview photographs

• Your selection gallery

• Final retouched images

• Albums or prints

• Rush-delivery options

My answer: Turnaround depends on the package and final products. Most completed digital images are available within 72 hours, although delivery may take up to one week. Printed products may require up to eight weeks.

10. Can I Bring a Friend?

Some clients feel more comfortable bringing a trusted friend to the session. Ask whether the photographer permits guests and whether there are limits on who may attend.

Your guest should be supportive and should not interfere with posing direction or the flow of the shoot.

My answer: I allow one person who is not a vendor or session participant to attend for comfort and assistance. Limiting additional guests helps keep the location private, organized, and free from distractions.
