Ashanti & Jason’s New Orleans Wedding at Treme Market Branch

Ashanti Christophe and Jason Victor celebrated their New Orleans wedding with a ceremony at Second Zion Baptist Church followed by a lively reception at Treme Market Branch in the historic Tremé neighborhood.
Their wedding brought together several unmistakably New Orleans elements: a traditional church ceremony, live brass-band music, Zulu Tramps, historic city locations and an energetic reception filled with movement and music.
Chad Populis Photography provided both wedding photography and videography for the celebration, documenting the preparations, ceremony, portraits, traditions and reception atmosphere throughout the day.

From Their New Orleans Engagement Session to the Wedding Day
Before the wedding, Ashanti and Jason also photographed their engagement session at Marigny Opera House and City Park.
The two locations created very different looks within the same session.
Marigny Opera House provided historic architecture and a distinctive New Orleans backdrop, while City Park added greenery and a more relaxed outdoor setting.
Together, the locations gave the couple a varied engagement gallery before the wedding-day story began.
Getting Ready in New Orleans
Ashanti prepared for the wedding at an Airbnb while Jason got ready near the New Orleans Convention Center.
The getting-ready portion of the day helped establish the beginning of their wedding story through both photography and video.
Hair and makeup, wedding attire, details, interactions with friends and family, and the final moments before leaving for the church all added context before the ceremony began.
Ashanti's makeup was provided by Verde Beauty, while Jason wore a tuxedo from Master's Touch.
Wedding Ceremony at Second Zion Baptist Church
Ashanti and Jason exchanged vows at Second Zion Baptist Church in New Orleans.
Church weddings have their own visual and emotional rhythm. The processional, family reactions, vows, ring exchange and other ceremony traditions unfold naturally and create opportunities for both documentary photography and wedding filmmaking.
Photography preserves individual expressions and decisive moments, while video adds the movement, voices and sound of the ceremony itself.
After the ceremony, the celebration moved into Tremé for the reception.
Treme Market Branch Wedding Reception
Ashanti and Jason held their reception at Treme Market Branch, a New Orleans wedding and event venue in the historic Tremé neighborhood.
Before the reception was fully underway, the couple incorporated a venue first look, giving them an opportunity to see the completed reception space together before guests filled the room.
That moment also created time for reactions, portraits and additional coverage of the venue before the celebration shifted fully into reception mode.
Brass Band Music and Zulu Tramps
The reception incorporated two elements deeply connected to New Orleans celebration culture.
Tidal Wave Brass Band brought live brass-band energy to the wedding, while the appearance of Zulu Tramps added another distinctly local element to the celebration.
These moments are especially well suited to combined photo and video coverage.
Photography freezes expressions, movement and individual moments throughout the celebration, while video captures the horns, dancing, cheering and atmosphere surrounding the couple.
Together, the two formats provide a more complete record of a wedding built around live entertainment and New Orleans traditions.
Ashanti & Jason’s New Orleans Wedding Video
Ashanti and Jason’s wedding was especially well suited for videography because so much of the day was driven by music, movement and atmosphere.
Their wedding film captured the quieter moments of the church ceremony at Second Zion Baptist Church before transitioning into the energy of the Treme Market Branch reception.
