Jervis and Marquita celebrated their wedding on July 6, 2024, at Crystal Events in Kenner, Louisiana, with a celebration filled with New Orleans culture, live entertainment and personal moments.

Our work with the couple began before their wedding day with an engagement photography session. For the wedding itself, we provided photography, videography and a 360 photo booth, documenting everything from their separate preparations in Lafitte and Kenner to their ceremony and reception at Crystal Events.

With entertainment from the Zulu Tramps, Legacy Brass Band and recording artist T99zy, this wedding offered plenty to capture through both photographs and film.

An Engagement Session Before the Wedding

Before Jervis and Marquita's wedding day, I also photographed their engagement session.

Engagement sessions give couples an opportunity to work with me before the wedding, get comfortable with guided posing and create photographs that are separate from the wedding-day schedule.

They're also a chance to develop a photography style that reflects the couple's personalities without the time constraints of a ceremony and reception.

Wedding Preparations in Lafitte and Kenner

Marquita prepared for the wedding at an Airbnb in Lafitte, while Jervis got ready at a hotel in Kenner.

With preparations taking place at two different locations, the photography needed to account for travel and the timing of each part of the day. Separate preparation coverage also gave Jervis and Marquita their own photographs from the hours leading up to the ceremony.

For couples planning a wedding with multiple getting-ready locations, I recommend accounting for travel time and identifying the preparation moments that are most important to photograph before everyone leaves for the venue.

Ceremony and Reception at Crystal Events

Jervis and Marquita held both their ceremony and reception at Crystal Events  in Kenner.

Keeping the ceremony and reception at one venue eliminated the need for guests to travel between locations once they arrived. It also kept the remainder of the wedding day centered around the celebration, from the ceremony and portraits to the live entertainment and reception.

Crystal Events is one of the Jefferson Parish venues I've photographed for multiple weddings. Couples comparing venues throughout the metro area can also explore my New Orleans wedding venue guide → .

Live Wedding Entertainment: Zulu Tramps, Legacy Brass Band and T99zy

Live entertainment was a major part of Jervis and Marquita's celebration.

Their wedding featured the Zulu Tramps and Legacy Brass Band, bringing distinctive New Orleans traditions and music into the reception. Recording artist T99zy also performed, including his song Trip Out.

Photographing a reception with multiple performers requires attention to more than the scheduled wedding events. The performers, the couple, the guests and the activity around the room all contribute to the story.

Live entertainment is also an important part of planning photography coverage. Knowing when a band, Zulu Tramp or special performer will appear helps me prepare to document the moments that can't be repeated.

A 360 Photo Booth for the Wedding Reception

Alongside the wedding photography, we provided a 360 photo booth for Jervis and Marquita's guests.

The booth gave guests an interactive way to create their own short videos while the wedding reception continued. With live music and multiple performances already part of the celebration, it was another experience for guests to enjoy throughout the event.

For couples interested in combining the two services, we offer wedding photography and booth coverage that can be planned around the same reception timeline.

Wedding Photography and Videography at Crystal Events

Jervis and Marquita's wedding included both professional photography and videography, allowing us to document their celebration in two complementary ways.

The photographs preserve individual moments—from their preparations and ceremony to their portraits, entertainment and reception. Wedding videography adds movement and sound, bringing another dimension to the performances, traditions and atmosphere of their celebration.

With the Zulu Tramps, Legacy Brass Band and T99zy appearing during the wedding festivities, having video coverage was particularly valuable. Live entertainment is something photographs can document beautifully, but film also preserves the music and energy of a performance.

Providing photography and videography together also allows us to coordinate coverage around the wedding timeline, especially when the couple has several special events planned throughout the day.
