Jessica and Anthony’s New Orleans Destination Elopement Portrait Session

Jessica Ramos and Anthony traveled from Brooklyn to New Orleans for a destination elopement portrait session on June 7, 2025.

Rather than following a traditional ceremony-to-reception timeline, their photography was built around creating portraits in the city and giving them space to enjoy the experience together.

We photographed around the French Quarter near Cabrini Playground and incorporated a white Corvette convertible into the session, combining destination-wedding portraits with a more editorial automotive feel.

A Destination Elopement Portrait Session in New Orleans

Destination couples do not always need a traditional full-day wedding photography timeline.

A dedicated portrait session creates room to slow down, explore the city and build a larger variety of images without working around a reception schedule, wedding party or tightly structured timeline.

For Jessica and Anthony, the focus was entirely on the two of them.

That gave us the flexibility to work with the surrounding streets, architecture and changing backgrounds while keeping the session relaxed.

Wedding Portraits Near the French Quarter

We photographed around the French Quarter near Cabrini Playground, using the surrounding New Orleans environment as part of the visual story.

Historic architecture, residential streets and the character of the neighborhood created a contrast with the couple’s wedding attire and the cleaner lines of the Corvette.

One of the advantages of photographing an elopement or destination portrait session in New Orleans is the amount of visual variety available within a relatively small area.

A short walk or drive can completely change the background without requiring couples to spend most of their session traveling between distant locations.

Incorporating a White Corvette Into the Wedding Portraits

The white Corvette convertible became more than transportation during the session.

We used it intentionally as part of the portrait composition.

A specialty or classic vehicle can completely change the visual direction of wedding photographs when it complements the couple's clothing and overall aesthetic.

In Jessica and Anthony's session, the Corvette created a clean, modern element against the older architecture and streets of New Orleans.

That contrast helped give the portraits a look that felt different from a traditional French Quarter wedding session.

Combining Wedding and Automotive Photography

Photographing a couple with a vehicle requires a slightly different approach from standard wedding portraits.

The goal is not simply to photograph the couple standing beside a car.

The vehicle needs to become part of the composition through positioning, perspective and interaction while still keeping the couple as the primary subjects.

For Jessica and Anthony, we created photographs both around and inside the Corvette, allowing the vehicle to contribute to the style of the session without overpowering the wedding portraits themselves.

That combination of wedding photography and automotive imagery gave their New Orleans session a distinctive identity.

Why New Orleans Works for Destination Elopement Portraits

New Orleans gives destination couples the ability to create several different looks without needing a traditional wedding venue.

The French Quarter and surrounding neighborhoods offer:

  • Historic architecture

  • Colorful streets and buildings

  • Residential New Orleans character

  • Courtyards and balconies

  • Urban backgrounds

  • Riverfront locations

  • Parks and greenery

A destination portrait session can be structured around the parts of the city that best fit the couple's style rather than simply visiting every well-known landmark.

Planning Your New Orleans Destination Elopement Session

The strongest portrait sessions usually come from choosing a few locations and visual ideas that work well together.

Clothing, transportation, available light, traffic, walking distance and the overall style you want all influence how the session should be planned.

For couples bringing or renting a specialty vehicle, we can also build the photography route around locations where the car can be incorporated naturally rather than treating it as an afterthought.

The goal is to create a collection that feels connected instead of simply moving from landmark to landmark.
