Daryl and Meija celebrated their intimate wedding at Sully Mansion on January 29, 2023, with a front-porch ceremony, brunch reception, and relaxed courtyard portraits in New Orleans' Garden District.
A bright, overcast winter sky created soft, even light throughout the afternoon, while keeping the photography timeline comfortable and flexible.

Front Porch Ceremony at Sully Mansion
Guests began arriving around 12:30 PM, with Daryl and Meija's ceremony beginning shortly afterward on Sully Mansion's front porch.
The historic architecture and covered porch created an intimate setting for the ceremony, with guests gathered close while still following the couple's planned social-distancing approach.
Photography focused on the ceremony itself, reactions, vows, ring exchange, and the people sharing the moment with them without interrupting the flow of the celebration.
Courtyard Wedding Portraits
After the ceremony, we moved into couple portraits around 1:15 PM.
Sully Mansion's courtyard gave us several portrait options without leaving the property. We used the checkerboard flooring, pergola, greenery, and surrounding architecture to create variety while keeping the portrait portion of the timeline efficient.
Because the sky remained bright and overcast, the light stayed soft and even without needing to wait for golden hour or move constantly in search of shade.
A Brunch Wedding Reception
Daryl and Meija transitioned into a brunch reception around 1:30–1:45 PM.
The daytime schedule gave the wedding a relaxed pace while still including the traditional moments that mattered to them, including their first dance, speeches and toasts, time with guests, and cake cutting around 3:00 PM.
Keeping the ceremony, portraits, and reception at Sully Mansion eliminated travel between locations and allowed the celebration to fit comfortably within a four-hour photography timeline.
An Intimate Wedding Planned Around Social Distancing
Social distancing was intentionally built into Daryl and Meija's wedding plans.
Rather than gathering everyone immediately after the ceremony for a large block of traditional family formals, the photography emphasized the couple, ceremony moments, and smaller guest and family interactions.
Wedding-party photographs were saved until later in the celebration for those who were comfortable participating. That approach allowed Daryl and Meija to reduce unnecessary close contact while still documenting the family and friends who shared their wedding day.
