Star Wars–Themed Wedding in New Orleans | JoJo & Jemiah

JoJo and Jemiah’s New Orleans wedding combined an outdoor ceremony beneath the Tree of Life with an intimate Firehouse Loft reception and Star Wars-inspired details throughout the celebration.
Their wedding day moved through three distinct settings: bridal preparations in downtown New Orleans, portraits and the ceremony at Audubon Park, and an evening reception at Firehouse Loft. With an 18-person wedding party and approximately 100–120 guests, the timeline was planned carefully to complete family and wedding-party portraits before the ceremony.

Getting Ready in New Orleans
Jemiah and the bridal party prepared at the Residence Inn on St. Charles Street, with getting-ready activities taking place throughout the morning.
JoJo prepared separately at Firehouse Loft beginning around 12:30 PM.
Keeping the couple at separate locations allowed the morning to unfold independently before everyone transitioned to Audubon Park for portraits and the ceremony.
First Look and Couple Portraits
JoJo and Jemiah used the Tree of Life area for their wedding-day portraits before the ceremony.
The large live oak and surrounding park gave us room for traditional portraits as well as more playful photographs that incorporated their personalities and Star Wars theme.
Completing portraits before the ceremony also helped protect the transition time between Audubon Park and Firehouse Loft later in the evening.
Wedding Party and Family Portraits at the Tree of Life
JoJo and Jemiah planned to have the bride, groom, wedding party, and family photographed at Audubon Park before the ceremony.
With an 18-person wedding party in addition to family members, completing those portraits before guests gathered helped reduce the amount of formal photography required after the ceremony.
The Tree of Life provided enough open space for large groupings while also giving us natural greenery, large oak branches, and softer filtered light for couple and individual portraits.
Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at Audubon Park
The ceremony was scheduled for approximately 4:30–4:45 PM beneath the Tree of Life.
JoJo and Jemiah kept the outdoor décor simple, allowing Audubon Park’s existing greenery to become the primary backdrop. Decorative bows on the ceremony chairs added color without competing with the landscape.
The wedding colors—emerald green, champagne, rose gold, and black—worked naturally with the greenery surrounding the ceremony.
Reception at Firehouse Loft
The reception began around 6:00 PM at Firehouse Loft, where industrial brick walls, darker ceilings, and warm interior lighting created a dramatic contrast to the outdoor ceremony at Audubon Park.
The emerald green, champagne, rose gold, and black color palette continued into the reception, alongside Star Wars-inspired décor. I used controlled supplemental lighting when needed to capture dancing, speeches, guest interactions, and reception details while preserving the room's natural atmosphere.
A Star Wars Theme Throughout the Wedding
Star Wars was woven throughout JoJo and Jemiah’s wedding in both subtle and playful ways. The theme appeared in details such as socks and cufflinks, reception décor, lightsaber-inspired bouquets, and the wedding cake. We also incorporated the theme into selected creative portraits, including a reenacted lightsaber duel, while keeping the rest of the gallery focused on the couple, family, wedding party, ceremony, and candid moments.
Rather than making every photograph depend on the theme, we mixed traditional wedding coverage with creative Star Wars-inspired portraits and details. That allowed the final gallery to reflect their personalities while still documenting the wedding itself naturally.
The Tree of Life portraits gave us space to have fun with the concept, including creative “Force”-inspired images, while the reception décor continued the theme more subtly.
