A Last-Minute Wedding Photo Booth Surprise at Broussard’s in New Orleans
Sometimes the most thoughtful wedding gifts aren't wrapped in a box. They're experiences that bring people together and create memories long after the celebration ends.
On Saturday, October 24, 2026, Chad Populis Photography & Photo Booths provided a last-minute iPad photo booth rental for Scarlett and Brennan's wedding reception at historic Broussard's Restaurant in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
What made this booking especially memorable wasn't just the celebration itself. It was the story behind the rental, the incredibly short turnaround, and the unique challenges of setting up a wedding photo booth in the French Quarter on a busy Halloween weekend.

A Surprise Wedding Gift from a Sister Who Couldn't Attend
On October 20, just four days before the wedding, I received an inquiry from Evon O'Brien about renting a photo booth for a reception at Broussard's.
Evon explained that the wedding was for her sister, Scarlett, and that she wouldn't be able to attend. She wanted to give the newlyweds something special that their friends and family could enjoy during the reception.
Her idea was simple: surprise Scarlett and Brennan with a wedding photo booth experience.
After discussing the available options, Evon selected our digital iPad photo booth rental with a customized backdrop.
The booking was finalized and paid on October 22, leaving just two days to complete the remaining preparations before the wedding.
From Booking to Wedding Day in Just 48 Hours
A last-minute photo booth rental involves much more than simply delivering equipment to a venue.
Between receiving payment on October 22 and the wedding on October 24, there was plenty to coordinate.
I completed the booking paperwork and invoice, collected the wedding details, communicated with the venue, and designed custom photo booth graphics based on the couple's wedding invitation.
The preparation also included configuring the photo booth software, testing the camera and digital sharing features, preparing the backdrop and props, cleaning the equipment, and charging everything needed for the event.
Because Evon couldn't attend, communication was particularly important. I coordinated directly with Broussard's event team to confirm the setup location, available space, electrical access, and arrival arrangements.
Despite the short notice, everything was prepared for the wedding celebration.
Custom Wedding Photo Overlays with a Personal Touch
Evon provided a copy of Scarlett and Brennan's wedding invitation to help guide the design.
Using its aesthetic as inspiration, I created custom burgundy botanical photo overlays featuring the couple's names and wedding date:
Scarlett & Brennan — October 24, 2026
One of Evon's special requests was to include a small message from her on the photos: "xoxo, Evon."
It was a simple detail, but a meaningful one. Although she couldn't be there in person, her message would appear in the photographs guests captured during the evening.
I also designed a coordinated digital welcome screen for the photo booth and sent the designs to Evon for review. After a small adjustment to make her message more visible, everything was ready.
A White and Cream Backdrop to Complement the Wedding Decor
For the physical setup, I selected a soft white and cream backdrop that complemented the wedding decor and provided a clean, elegant background for guest portraits.
The neutral tones helped keep attention on the people in the photographs while allowing the custom burgundy graphics to stand out.
A small table with photo booth prop signs was positioned nearby, giving guests a few playful options for their pictures without overwhelming the sophisticated wedding setting.
The result was a simple, attractive photo booth area that fit naturally into the reception.

Setting Up a Wedding Photo Booth in the French Quarter on Halloween Weekend
Anyone who has worked an event in the New Orleans French Quarter knows that parking, loading, and navigating crowded streets can present challenges.
Broussard's is located at 819 Conti Street, just off Bourbon Street, making it a beautiful setting for a New Orleans wedding reception.
However, October 24 was also a busy Saturday during the lead-up to Halloween. The French Quarter was packed with visitors, parties, pedestrians, and traffic restrictions.
With vehicle access limited near the venue, unloading directly in front of Broussard's wasn't an option.
Instead, I had to unload the photo booth equipment approximately one block away in a designated loading area. After unloading, I parked my vehicle in a lot roughly four blocks from the restaurant and walked back to complete the setup.
The equipment included the iPad photo booth, backdrop, backdrop stand, accessories, and props.
Careful planning and coordination with the venue made it possible to have the photo booth ready for guests despite the logistical challenges.

The Breakdown Was an Adventure of Its Own
The challenges didn't end when the celebration was over.
After breaking down the booth and packing the backdrop, I loaded the equipment onto a wagon and navigated the crowded French Quarter streets, making my way past pedestrians, partygoers, and vehicles to return everything to my parked car.
It was one of those uniquely New Orleans experiences that comes with working events in the heart of the French Quarter.
For guests, the photo booth experience is meant to be effortless. Behind the scenes, however, there can be quite a bit of preparation, coordination, and physical work to make that happen.
A Lively New Orleans Wedding Reception at Broussard's
Scarlett and Brennan's reception brought together family, friends, music, and plenty of New Orleans personality.
The celebration even included some familiar local names, including businessman Ronnie Lamarque, who joined the band to sing during the festivities, and New Orleans attorney Chip Forstall.
The music and celebratory atmosphere made for a memorable wedding reception.
The iPad photo booth was a hit with the guests, offering a fun opportunity to pose together, use the prop signs, and create personalized digital wedding keepsakes.
The booth's customized graphics added a personal touch to each image, while the white and cream backdrop kept the photographs looking polished and consistent with the wedding decor.
Although Evon couldn't attend the wedding, her surprise gift became part of the celebration, and her personalized message appeared on the photo booth designs.
Why an iPad Photo Booth Works for New Orleans Weddings
Not every wedding reception needs a large, elaborate photo booth installation.
An iPad photo booth provides an interactive experience in a relatively compact space, making it especially useful for restaurants, historic venues, private dining rooms, and French Quarter wedding receptions.
Our New Orleans iPad Photo Booth Rental includes a customized photo overlay, digital photo sharing, and an online gallery after the event.
Optional backdrops allow the setup to complement the wedding's colors and aesthetic.
For Scarlett and Brennan's wedding, the compact booth, elegant backdrop, and personalized digital designs provided an enjoyable experience without requiring an elaborate installation.

This wedding was a reminder that even when an event is just days away, it's sometimes possible to arrange a personalized photo booth experience.

With clear communication, responsive planning, custom design work, and coordination with the venue, we were able to deliver a successful experience on short notice.
And for me, the most rewarding part was knowing that the surprise gift Evon arranged for her sister was enjoyed by the wedding guests.
