Ramonica Martin and Kevin Knight celebrated their wedding on October 22, 2022 at Treme Market Branch, with both the ceremony and reception taking place at the historic New Orleans venue.

Chad Populis Photography provided a photo and video combination for the day.

If you're planning a wedding in New Orleans and want photography that documents the full day—from preparation and ceremony through portraits, reception traditions and second lines—explore my New Orleans wedding photography services → for coverage details, pricing and availability.

Getting Ready Across New Orleans

Ramonica prepared at an Airbnb in Mid-City while Kevin got ready at The Saint Hotel on Canal Street.

The bride wanted preparation photographs that included makeup, her dress before getting dressed, shoes and candid moments with her mother and friends.

The groom’s preparation included photographs with his son and father along with final jacket and bow-tie details.

Both also arrived in black SUVs, creating opportunities for arrival photographs at the venue.

A Personal Bridal Detail

One of the most meaningful details of the day was attached to Ramonica’s bouquet.

A photograph of her late grandmother hung from it, adding a family connection to the bridal details.

Her dress came from Town & Country Bridal, with makeup by AC NOLA MUA and hair by Brown Beauty.

Couple Portraits in the Treme Neighborhood

After the ceremony, Ramonica and Kevin took time for couple portraits both inside Treme Market Branch and outside in the surrounding Treme neighborhood.

The venue provided a polished indoor setting for more formal newlywed portraits, while the nearby streets added a completely different feel. Photographing outside gave us a chance to incorporate the character of Treme, including the neighborhood atmosphere and the energy of the city around them.

Using both the venue and the surrounding streets created a more varied set of wedding portraits without requiring another major location change or adding unnecessary travel time to the timeline.

Treme Market Branch Ceremony and Reception

The ceremony began at 3 p.m. and was designed to be short and intimate before transitioning quickly into the reception.

Ramonica and Kevin skipped a traditional large bridal party, instead having witnesses and close family members play important roles.

The reception included:

  • first dance

  • mother/daughter dance

  • cake cutting

  • bouquet toss

  • garter toss

A New Orleans Second Line

Ramonica summed up one part of the wedding perfectly:

“You know a NOLA girl gotta have the second line.”

The celebration ended with a New Orleans-style second line featuring a Zulu Tramp and 21st Century Brass Band.

That combination of sound, movement and energy is one reason photographing and filming New Orleans weddings together can be so valuable.

Ramonica & Kevin’s New Orleans Wedding Video

Ramonica and Kevin chose combined photography and videography coverage for their Treme Market Branch wedding, allowing the day to be documented through both still images and motion.

Video was especially valuable during moments like the ceremony, first dance, family dances and the second line with the 21st Century Brass Band, where movement, music and reactions are an important part of the experience.
